CHRIS AND LUCIE ARE ENGAGED!
Chris is my husband's closest friend and Best Man, so when he asked me to photograph his proposal in Gatlinburg, I said yes in an instant.
Lucie had planned a girl's retreat weekend in Gatlinburg with another friend (our co-conspirator) and she had no idea what was coming. We had TWO big surprises in store! Our original plan involved driving to an overlook to propose with a mountain backdrop on Saturday morning, but when we arrived on Friday night, it was 12 degrees and snowing, and all of the State Parks and Overlook roads were closed due to icy roads. We stayed up late trying to come up with a plan and felt discouraged when everything we came up with came to a dead end due to weather and road closures.
Around 1 am that night, we had a loose plan, we found a nearby park that had a river and a pretty wooden bridge as a backdrop, so we went for it. Chris and I woke up around 7:30 am to scope out the location. It was 10 degrees, and the roads were questionable, but we braved them anyways. When we arrived, we found out the wooden bridge had been taken down and we were pretty devastated, We walked around trying to come up with another plan and we stumbled into a State Park entrance on foot. We decided to check out the trail and found the perfect clearing of trees, where the sun was coming in through the trees and making the snow glisten in the most magical way. We settled on the spot, then Chris messaged Lucie's friend the location and the plan was set in motion.
